Starting now with the writer of this blog

The idea of learning more about one of our famous relatives, Thomas Burgoyne, has been simmering away for several generations. My mother first got the history bug, but was daunted by the prospect of reading the many pages of Parliamentary debate recorded in Hansard required to fully understand his long political career in the South Australian Parliament. And Thomas frequently gave long speeches! The passion for Burgoyne and the family history skipped my generation. Meanwhile, I retired from teaching and wrote two books, both biographies. What would I do next? Writing a blog about Thomas Burgoyne, rather than another book, was my choice.

We will take a slow winding journey through his life, sharing the interesting bits and exploring what South Australia was like in his lifetime. Behind the scenes is the driving force of my younger daughter, endlessly curious to understand our family heritage.
